Assemblyman Santabarbara receives Award from New York’s Legislative Aviation Caucus, New York Aviation Management Association

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara was recognized by the New York Legislative Aviation Caucus and the New York Aviation Management Association for a number of legislative achievements supporting airports in the Capital Region as drivers of economic development and the businesses and communities that rely on them.

Recently, Santabarbara helped secure over $1.4 million in state funding for the Schenectady County Airport to construct a business aviation complex. The project was one of 29 chosen to receive funding from New York’s Aviation Capital Grant Program, an initiative that Santabarbara played a key role in establishing in the state budget. The funds are part of a five-year state transportation plan to help make critical improvements such as security upgrades, purchasing new maintenance and ground service equipment and airline facility expansions.

“This significant investment brings 21st century technology to the Schenectady County Airport, boosting our local economy and connecting our area to new opportunities,” said Assemblyman Santabarbara. “As a civil engineer, I understand how vital it is for our community to invest in transportation infrastructure, especially here in Upstate New York,” Santabarbara said. “The aviation industry is truly the hub of New York’s economy,” said Assemblyman Santabarbara. “I’ll continue working in the State Assembly to support our airports that not only provide good jobs and new business opportunities, but also connects our communities to both nearby states and countries that are oceans away.”
