The Board of Directors of YWCA of the Greater Capital Region (YWCA-GCR) has named Starletta Smith as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective January 1, 2020. Smith has worked at YWCA-GCR for more than a decade, serving as Interim Executive Director since June 2019.
“The Board of Directors takes its responsibilities very seriously and felt it important to launch a thorough nationwide search for Executive Director. We are so very fortunate that it turned out that Starletta is the right person at the right time,” said YWCA-GCR Board President Bridget McGivern.
“I am honored and very excited to lead YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc., working beside our dedicated staff, board, and community,” said YWCA-GCR Executive Director Starletta Smith. ”Furthering our mission to eliminate racism and empower women each and every day is my true passion and it is a privilege to do so. ”
Prior to Smith’s appointment, Daquetta P. Jones served as Executive Director of YWCA-GCR from December 2013 to May 2019.
