YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, Inc. announces Nathaalie Carey, Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Chief Financial Officer at NYS Department of Labor, as the 2018 Resourceful Woman of the Year. The event, presented by Groff Networks and Troy Web Consulting, will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Albany Marriott (new location), 11:30a.m. to 1:30p.m.
As the Deputy Commissioner for Administration and Chief Financial Office at NYS Department of Labor, Mrs. Carey manages the agency’s $4 billion portfolio with oversight of all internal operations. As an asset to New York State’s Women’s Pay Equity panel, she aids in exploring how to address closing the gender pay gap. Prior to this role, she served as Assistant Comptroller for Local Government and School Accountability where she was responsible for implementing the NYS property tax cap and developing the local government fiscal monitoring system. In addition to Mrs. Carey’s many accomplishments, at age 24 she became the youngest person, first woman and first person of color appointed as Budget Director of Broome County.
Nathaalie received a B.S. in English and Master’s in Public Administration from Binghamton University. She is an experienced executive at local and state levels of government with a strong background in finance, operations and technology. Nathaalie provides support to women throughout her community, encouraging them to use their voices in the workplace.
The Resourceful Women’s Awards were established in 2000, to recognize and honor women whose community and professional pursuits advance the empowerment of women, a core element of YWCA of the Greater Capital Region’s mission. ”We are honored and proud to recognize this year’s honorees,” said Daquetta Jones, YWCA-GCR Executive Director.
In addition to honoring Nathaalie Carey, the Awards Luncheon will recognize the 2018 Woman of Inspiration, Resourceful Women, Young Girls On A Mission and Community Partner Award recipients. It is with deep gratitude that YWCA-GCR recognizes SEFCU as the 2018 Community Partner awardee for their priceless work, compassion, contribution and commitment to YWCA-GCR’s mission, services and programs. The community awards recognizes organizations, corporations and individuals whose generous, tireless, caring, supportive spirits and expertise have provided significant financial contributions and tangible goods to YWCA-GCR over the years.
