Yom Ha’hatzmaut Celebrate Israel Independence Day at Schenectady JCC

On Sunday, May 15 at 5 pm, the Schenectady JCC will celebrate Yom Ha’hatzmaut, as a part of the Schenectady JCC’s Celebration Series, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of NENY

This family-friendly event will feature a fun Israel Fusion Food Challenge cooking contest followed by dinner. Contestants, including JCC board members Del Salmon and Allan Pearlman, along with Josh Wagner, JCC Fitness and Wellness Director, and Eli Feret, JCC teen member, will be preparing shwarma, falafel, and Israeli salads. Contestants will also be using Ezuz Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Israel that was donated by local business The Olive Tree USA.

Judging the culinary offerings will be Daniel Berman, Yelp ambassador and food blogger at FUSSYlittleBLOG, and Shahar Bar-Meir, one of Schenectady JCC’s summer camp emissaries from last year.

Also, there will be activities for children led by Israeli visitors, live music with the Zach Cohen Trio, and an Israel-themed art exhibit.
