February 12, 2019Wojeski CPA Firm Exceeds Yearly Charity Goal; Fund Benefits Underprivileged Children in Rensselaer County
Wojeski & Company CPAs has raised $41,723 for the Wojeski Fund, which benefits low-income children and adolescents in Rensselaer County. The Fund was founded by Dave Wojeski in 2004 and has raised over $274,000 to date. One hundred percent of the funds raised go to needy children in the community; there are no administrative charges for the program.
Wojeski & Company partners with CoNSERNS-U, a non-profit organization with a long history of supporting those in need in Rensselaer County, which assists with the administration and disbursement of the contributions raised by the Fund.
Wojeski & Company sponsors a fundraising event each December to benefit underserved children and youth. The 2018 event generated the most contributions made since the Fund’s inception. The State Employees Federal Credit Union (SEFCU) also donated $2,500 to the effort.

“This firm has positively impacted the lives of a thousand youth in our community for the past 14 years,” she said. “The funds they raise each year provide low-income children and adolescents with life affirming moments and opportunities they would not otherwise be able to enjoy.”
The Fund provides essential items that are not covered through other governmental and charity programs. It also enables children to experience activities that their peers enjoy, even if they cannot afford the cost.
In addition to essentials such as eyeglasses, medical copayments, clothing and shoes, the Fund supports summer camp experiences, school field trips, athletic and musical equipment and fees, high school graduation expenses, and many other items.
Dave Wojeski started the fund 14 years ago after interacting with impoverished children while coaching and volunteering with youth.
“The real eye-opener for me was when I participated in a ‘take your daughter to work day’ and was matched up with a less fortunate child,” he said. “Talking to her about her life was the final pivotal moment that caused me to start the Wojeski Fund.”
Being able to participate in school activities and programs that their families could not otherwise afford “provides these children with dignity and puts them on an equal footing with their peers,” Wojeski continued.
Susan Landauer, a member of SEFCU’s Supervisory Committee and a partner with Forensic Accounting Services Group, chose to designate $2,500 on behalf of SEFCU to the Wojeski Fund because “this one-of-a-kind program has already provided opportunities and life-affirming experiences to a generation of youth. We are honored to help them continue this most essential work.”
