November 13, 2025We Are Revolutionary Expands Workforce Partnerships to Strengthen Families, Heal Communities, and Empower Youth
We Are Revolutionary, a community-rooted organization based in Albany, New York, is proud to announce the expansion of its Youth Organizing and Workforce Development Program, recently recognized by the New York Association of Training & Employment Professionals (NYATEP) with the 2025 Workforce Program Award.
The organization is now calling on businesses, non-profits, labor unions, government agencies, and local employers to partner with them to host workforce tours, offer internships, and create employment opportunities that open doors for young people and their families.
Healing Communities Through Workforce and Peer Advocacy
We Are Revolutionary’s mission goes beyond traditional job training. The organization focuses on addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the cycles of harm caused by family separation, housing instability, and systemic punishment. Their model combines peer advocacy, political education, and community organizing to build both soft and essential career skills while helping youth and families heal together.
“Youth are more than their trauma; they are builders, thinkers, and leaders,” said Lukee Forbes, Executive Director of We Are Revolutionary. “When we invest in them as workers and advocates, we’re not just developing a workforce, we’re developing a generation that knows how to care for each other, challenge inequity, and rebuild community from the ground up.”
A New Model for Workforce Development
The Youth Organizing Program operates as both a pre-workforce and workforce development initiative, blending skill-building with civic engagement. Participants, ages 14 – 25, gain hands-on experience in leadership, logistics, budgeting, and communication while
organizing local events and advocacy campaigns that strengthen neighborhoods across the Capital Region.
Through peer-led support, family-centered organizing, and healing-informed practices, We Are Revolutionary is redefining what it means to prepare for work teaching young people not only how to earn a paycheck, but how to sustain a community.
A Call to Action for Businesses and Agencies
We Are Revolutionary is inviting community partners to join their mission by:
● Hosting workforce tours and site visits to expose youth to diverse industries.
● Offering paid internships or employment opportunities to program participants.
● Co-developing training sessions and mentorship programs that align workforce needs with youth interests.
Partnerships with We Are Revolutionary to provide a pathway for businesses and agencies to invest in local talent, social impact, and economic stability, while helping dismantle barriers that keep families in cycles of poverty and separation.
