WAMC Reaches $1.25 Million Goal

WAMC Northeast Public Radio has successfully achieved its goal of raising $1.25 million in its October 2025 Fund Drive. After just three and a half days, our community, staff and volunteers closed out an historically successful drive, sounding the clarion horn for public media and independent journalism in our region.

Supporters responded with 7,000 pledges to WAMC, helping to keep WAMC listener-supported. Award-winning news and community programming are broadcast to parts of seven states, and published online to audiences around the world.

“This is a resounding vote for free speech, fair and transparent reporting, and independent journalism,” said President & CEO Sarah Gilbert.

“At this pivotal moment, we are delighted with such a positive response from our broad community,” said Lizzie Honan, WAMC’s new Chief Development Officer.

WAMC Fund Drives occur three times a year in February, June, and October. This success would not be possible without the generous support of the underwriters, sponsors, volunteers and members. This is a full-community effort, and WAMC is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with community partners. This drive featured the excellent work of Unity House of Troy, Trinity Alliance of the Capital Region, the Adirondack Council, and the Food Pantries for the Capital District.

Each drive’s goal is to support the general operations of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. WAMC broadcasts the highest-quality programs from NPR, American Public Media, and the BBC World Service, as well as a wide range of award-winning local programming.
