Walter Robb Elected as Clarkson University Trustee

Former General Electric executive Walter Robb was elected as a Clarkson University trustee as the school prepares to merge with Union Graduate College.

Robb, president of Vantage Management Inc. in Schenectady, will serve on the internal affairs and development committees at Clarkson, the college announced Thursday. Robb is a trustee of Union Graduate College, which is expected to merge with Clarkson next year. He played an important role in bringing the two schools together, Clarkson said in a news release.

Clarkson, located in Potsdam, plans to begin offering graduate degrees in January in the Capital Region with programs in business, engineering, education, health and science.

Robb was previously GE’s senior vice president for corporate research and development and a member of the company’s corporate executive council from 1986 to 1992. He directed GE’s Research and Development Center. He previously served as general manager of GE Medical Systems, which is headquartered in Wisconsin, for 13 years. Robb recently published a book titled “Taking Risks — Getting Ahead in Business and Life.” He lives with his wife in Niskayuna.

Under the merger, the Schenectady campus will be called Clarkson University, Capital Region campus.
