Unity House has announced the promotion of Milinda Reed to director of human resources and general counsel, Andrea Ryan to corporate compliance officer, and David Warren to service director of Domestic Violence Services.
In her new role, Reed provides guidance, problem resolution, and facilitation in the areas of employee benefits, employee relations, performance management, and employee discipline; advises employees and management regarding agency policies and procedures; provides counsel on a wide variety of complex legal issues including not for profit law, labor law, ethics, corporate compliance and contracts matters; and coordinates matters referred to outside counsel.
She previously served as service director of Unity House’s Domestic Violence Services, developing and overseeing a program that has been hailed by federal regulators as one of the most comprehensive in the nation. A key component of her leadership has been developing collaborative relationships with the courts, the police, public assistance, and child protective services personnel to respond comprehensively to the complex problem of domestic violence.
Reed serves on the Court Appointed Special Advocates Advisory Committee and the Friends of Rensselaer County Drug Court Board of Directors, and has served as the Capital Region representative to the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
As corporate compliance officer, Ryan ensures that the agency is in compliance with rules and regulations and that company policies and procedures are being followed. She has been with Unity House for seven years and gained experience through various roles related to the administration and management of the agency’s large grant portfolio.
Ryan has a background in public education and human services volunteerism. She studied English literature and education at the University of Albany as both an undergraduate and graduate student. She is the board president of the Green Island Union Free School District.
Warren, who has been promoted to service director of Unity House’s Domestic Violence Services, has worked at Domestic Violence Services for more than eight years, formerly as the police advocate, and more recently as a program director supervising criminal justice services and data management. During his time at Unity House he has developed and presented many training programs in the community on topics such as intimate partner violence, elder abuse, and teen dating violence.
Warren received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University at Albany and earned his juris doctor from Albany Law School in 2015.
