UAlbany Hosts Family Earth Day, April 13

What:
The University at Albany is inviting Capital Region families to learn about the atmosphere, environmental science and sustainability at the 7th annual Family Earth Day.

The event, led by UAlbany Department of Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences students, faculty, and researchers, includes a number of hands-on activities and demonstrations for children, ages 5 and up. This year’s highlights include weather balloon launches, sheep herding demonstrations, creating clouds in a bottle and tree planting on campus. Instrumentation from the University’s New York State Mesonet, a statewide network of 126 weather stations, will also be on display.

Children will have an opportunity throughout the day to interact with UAlbany’s “weather friends.” These friendly superheroes will be handing out trading cards, signing autographs, taking selfies and talking with kids about staying safe when severe weather strikes.
