Two New Teachers Join Capital Region BOCES

Two new teachers have joined the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education Center faculty.

Joshua Vadney and Michael Hebert started work at the Career and Technical Education Center – Albany Campus on March 31.

Vadney is the new Manufacturing and Machining Technology teacher, and Hebert is the new Building Trades teacher. The pair bring a combined 30-plus years of industry experience to the classrooms.

“We are thrilled to have such experienced individuals join our faculty. The breadth of experience they will be able to share with our students is immense,” said Principal Joe Slichko.

Hebert has more than 26 years of experience with carpentry and construction and continues to work in the family business, Hebert Construction.

“I am looking forward to sharing my knowledge with the next generation of contractors and having a positive impact on their lives,” Hebert said.

Hebert is not a stranger to career and technical education. In fact, he is a graduate of the Automotive Trades Technology program on the Schoharie Campus, as is his son, Class of 2023 graduate Mason Hebert.

“[Retired Automotive Trades teacher Martin] James was a great mentor. He taught me a lot,” Michael Hebert said.

Vadney is a machinist with more than five years of experience directly in the industry and more than eight years in related industry work. He currently works as a machinist in Royal Metal Products in Greenville.

“I enjoy teaching because it allows me to make a positive impact on others’ lives by helping them grow and develop new skills,” Vadney said. “Seeing students understand a concept for the first time or overcome challenges is incredibly rewarding.”
