December 12, 2023Toilet Paper Take Down Event Announced by First New York Federal Credit Union and Catholic Charities Tri-County Services
On December 13, 2023, First New York Federal Credit Union will present Catholic Charities Tri-County Services with a donation of over 12,000 toilet paper rolls transformed into several large Christmas trees. Together, both organizations will dismantle the trees and take the toilet paper donations to Catholic Charities Tri-County Services’ five Capital Region food pantries and two soup kitchens.
Members of the media and dignitaries are invited to attend the Toilet Paper Take Down event.
First New York Headquarters at 2 Wall Street, Albany, NY 12205 on Wednesday, December 13, at 10 AM.
This is an excellent video and photo opportunity. That morning we will knock down the toilet paper trees, creating a unique cascade of toilet paper rolls, and start moving the huge pile out to Catholic Charities Tri-County Services.
“We are so grateful to the team at First New York Federal Credit Union for once more making this annual event such a huge success,” said Catholic Charities of the Albany Diocese CEO Sister Betsy Van Deusen, CSJ. “This partnership has been a blessing to so many and has been a tangible reminder to people that together we can make a difference. Throughout the Diocese of Albany people come in for bare essentials and efforts like this offer dignity, compassion and real help for our neighbors!”
This charitable gift will help Catholic Charities Tri-County Services accommodate the 15-20% increase in individuals requiring their services. More specifically, local families and individuals in most need and unable to receive personal care items under Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
As of December 5, 2023, First New York and Catholic Charities Tri-County Services surpassed last year’s Toilet Paper Drive donation with 12,220 rolls of toilet paper through the generous support of their members, staff, and community. Hummel’s Office Plus donated cases of toilet paper as well as offering a deeply discounted price on cases purchased for the drive. In addition, generous donations were made by The Brick House Bakery in Cobleskill and Alchar Printing in Troy.
“Over the past seven years, First New York Federal Credit Union has consistently demonstrated their generosity and steadfast commitment to our community through their annual Toilet Paper drive. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire First New York team for rallying their employees and members to participate,” said Jenn Hyde, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Tri-County Services. “Our clients are genuinely thankful for your giving hearts. Donations will be distributed to our five food pantries and two soup kitchens located throughout urban and rural Albany and Rensselaer Counties.”
