Times Union Supports Caring For Those Who Cared for Us Capital Campaign

The Caring for Those Who Cared for Us Capital Campaign continues to receive community support as the Times Union and George R. Hearst III have committed to a combined $50,000 over five years to help fund the development of Colonie Senior Service Centers’ (CSSC) 96-unit King Thiel Senior Community in Latham, New York.

The Times Union and Hearst are committed to supporting seniors in the community and providing them a safe and affordable place to call home.  These funds will provide much-needed financial assistance to allow CSSC to provide affordable housing and supportive services to 96 families who will be making the King Thiel Senior Community their home.

The Times Union has worked with CSSC for a long-time, helping to assist in grant procedures and providing a number of matching advertising grants over the years. These grants help CSSC promote programs and services, events, and other activities to help keep seniors active, healthy and independent in Colonie and the Greater Capital Region.

“The partnership between CSSC and the Times Union has grown over many years, and it is clear that both the Times Union and George Hearst are dedicated to serving the seniors in our community,” said Ed Neary, Executive Director, CSSC. “With their level of support for this Capital Campaign, the Times Union is making a significant impact on many lives, including the 96 families who will be moving into the King Thiel Senior Community in May 2017 and other seniors in the community who will use the center for senior services and programs.”

CSSC is an independent, community based not-for-profit organization serving the largest population of seniors in the Capital Region.
