This Could Impact You!

You may know that Albany County is considering a proposal that would require private sector employers (both non-profit and for-profit) to provide paid sick leave to part-time and full-time employees. What you may not know is this proposal could apply to you even if you’re an employer that isn’t in Albany County.

That’s right; this proposed mandate would apply to employers located within and outside Albany County who have employees who work in Albany County for more than 80 hours in a calendar year. If enacted, this proposal would be costly to our non-profit and for-profit employers throughout the Capital Region. The Chamber is not against paid sick leave. We know that most of our local employers already provide paid leave. The Chamber is against government mandates that require private sector businesses and non-profits to provide paid sick leave. Decisions regarding employee benefits should be left to the employer and not ill-defined by government. So, we need your help to stop this well-intentioned, but flawed proposal from becoming law. You can lend your voice with a few clicks of the mouse. It will only takes a minute, but it will save the future of may Capital Region employers. Because of you, our voice will be heard.
