The Schenectady Trading Company Ribbon Cutting

Congratulations to The Schenectady Trading Company on their grand opening under new ownership! Ali and Tom Bland cut the ribbon today with Capital Region Chamber Vice President Jason Benitez and community leaders including Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy, Nicole Parisi representing Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, Schenectady City Councilwoman Doreen Scarchilli Ditoro, Schenectady Metroplex Executive Director David Hogenkamp, Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation Executive Director Maureen Neufeld, plus volunteer chamber Ambassadors including Judy Martin Brinkman of Life’s 2 Short, LLC. Also present for the happy occasion was former Schenectady Trading Company owner Caroline Bardwell, passing the baton to the new owners.
Tom had been selling cutting boards at Schenectady Trading Co. for awhile, and the couple decided to purchase the business when it was in danger of closure. They love the idea of offering makers and artists a space where they can have their items available to the public without the stress of running their own store. Schenectady Trading Co. is a unique location, combining local foods, gifts, souvenirs and now a selection of vintage items. Over 60 local artists and makers are represented at Schenectady Trading Co. They intend to connect with the community through makers classes, and are open to ideas for classes or to find local people willing to teach a class at the store.
All 2024 ribbon cuttings of the Capital Region Chamber and its affiliates are sponsored by Community Bank, N.A.
