The Lazy Axe Partners with National Alliance on Mental Illness and American Cancer Society

The Lazy Axe, one of Albany’s first indoor axe throwing facilities, is continuing its commitment to support the local Capital Region community by partnering with the Capital Region chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as well as the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region.

Recently, The Lazy Axe donated 10% of all proceeds from axe throwing sessions that occurred on NAMI Night (Thursday, 9/26). NAMI is committed to empowering people living with mental illness at all levels of recovery by offering hope, assistance, and education. They promote research, foster understanding, and combat discrimination and stigma through outreach to the community. NAMI staff was on hand at The Lazy Axe to provide more information about their organization.

On Thursday, October 10, The Lazy Axe will be hosting the inaugural Axetreme Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament. Participants will compete in a double elimination tournament. No axe throwing experience is necessary! The Lazy Axe Axeperts will be on hand to teach new axe throwers how to throw. The participation fee is $45 ($15 of which will be donated to the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region). Representatives from the American Cancer Society will be present at The Lazy Axe to provide more information, host raffles, and sell food to raise additional funds. Space is limited!

In addition to these two fundraising events, The Lazy Axe is partnering with Good Karma Studio to present the ultimate stress relief workshop on Sunday, September 29 at 10:00AM-11:30AM—Yoga Flow and Throw! Participants will wake up their minds and bodies with a relaxing flow and then relieve their tension by throwing axes. The workshop consists of 45 minutes of yoga followed by 45 minutes of axe throwing. Warriors of any gender are welcome to join in the event. $35 per person. All participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat (if possible), and MUST wear closed toe shoes for the axe throwing portion of the workshop. No experience necessary!
