The King’s Singers Bring Their New Program to Universal Preservation Hall

The King’s Singers have represented the gold standard in a cappella singing on the world’s greatest stages for over fifty years and one of their next stops will be at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs, NY on Thursday, February 17.

The King’s Singers will be performing their program Finding Harmony at Universal Preservation Hall. Finding Harmony is evidence that music has always been our common language. A unique collection of pieces that span the globe–including music that’s too often forgotten–each song is the key to a powerful true story about who we are and how we’ve got here. Together, Finding Harmony proves how deeply we can be moved by all kinds of stories when songs connect us to them, to each other, and to the places we come from.

What has always distinguished the group is their comfort in an unprecedented range of styles and genres, pushing the boundaries of their repertoire, while at the same time honoring their origins in the British choral tradition. They are known and loved around the world, having performed at venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Tokyo Opera City and more.

Their commitment to creating a new repertoire has always been central to the group with over 200 commissioned works by many leading composers of the 20th and 21st Centuries. A key to the group’s success has been their ability to evolve and innovate over many years–and through 28 individual members–while always retaining this special sound and musical integrity.

The King’s Singers were formed in 1968, when six choral scholars from King’s College, Cambridge gave a concert at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. By chance, the group was made up of two countertenors, a tenor, two baritones, and a bass, and the group has maintained this formation ever since that debut.

Tickets for The King’s Singers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17 are $25.50-60.50. For tickets and information, call the Box Office at Proctors 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday-Friday at 518.346.6204 or visit universalpreservationhall.org.
