The Capital Region Chamber Celebrates 175 Years of Driving Solutions for a Thriving Community!

The roots of the Capital Region Chamber trace back to May 24, 1847 when originally organized as the Albany Board of Trade.

The reason that businesspeople came together 175 years ago is that same reason we do so today; our collective strength and impact is much greater than any individual business or organization can have on its own.

While the organization’s name and structure have evolved over the years to best serve businesses, our communities and region, the Chamber’s commitment to free enterprise and to creating economic opportunity have been constants. As we provide robust member services, the Capital Region Chamber and its affiliate organizations address area challenges and seize opportunities to position our region for economic success and shared prosperity.

At its final meeting of 2021, the Chamber’s Board of Directors adopted a revised mission statement: “To be a unifying force for progress, leading opportunities for businesses to succeed and for people and our communities to prosper.” In addition, a new five-year strategic plan was adopted to guide the organization.

As the Capital Region Chamber and the Center for Economic Growth serve the region, Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber, the Chamber of Schenectady County, and the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County affiliates provide issue advocacy at the local level and present locally focused programs. Our organizations are United to Drive Economic Prosperity with One Voice, One Mission, As One Region.

You, our members, are truly the lifeblood of our organization. Thank you for investing in your business and the well-being of our greater community through your membership in the Capital Region Chamber.

Here’s to the next 175 years of making prosperity happen!
