“The Adirondacks: Season by Season” at Albany Public Library

Noted outdoor photographer Carl Heilman II will describe his experience of photographing various Adirondack Park scenes each season for a year in “Adirondacks: Season by Season” at the Albany Public Library on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The special event takes place at 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the second floor community room at the Washington Ave. Branch at 161 Washington Ave.

Heilman’s photographs of the Adirondacks were published in Adirondack Life Magazine and inspired him to write the book The Adirondacks: Season by Season in 2017. The book showcases mountain, forest, and water landscapes in different areas of the park, including Lake Placid, the High Peaks, and the Fulton Chain. Heilman will discuss the making of the book, and also share about other favorite Adirondack spots that he has visited and photographed. He will also sign and sell books following the presentation. Light refreshments will be served.

“Adirondacks: Season by Season” is free and open to the public. Registration is required by calling (518) 427-4303 or via the library’s online events calendar at www.albanypubliclibrary.org. The program is co-sponsored by the Albany Public Library Foundation and the Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK), with generous support from ADK.

Heilman is an award-winning photographer who specializes in nature panoramas, murals, and basic photographs. His work displays scenes of Lake George and Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and other areas of New York State, the Maine Coast and Montana, and other regions of the country. He is the photographer for several books, including Adirondacks: Views of An American Wilderness, The Adirondacks, Wild New York, Our New York, and Two in the Wilderness.
