Taxi Day Shows Appreciation, Educates Drivers

The Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB), along with their partner hotels, distributed free gift bags and snacks to local taxi drivers today. The event took place at the Albany-Rensselaer Train Station from 9 to 11 a.m. and will continue this afternoon at the Albany International Airport from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Hotel partners will have gift bags available throughout the day.

The purpose of Taxi Day is to show appreciation for the front line taxi drivers and to let them know how important they are in making a positive first impression upon visitors to Albany. The ACCVB also used this opportunity to educate drivers about the thousands of visitors who will be arriving in Albany in the coming weeks for Saratoga track season and the NYS Bar Exam.

Gift bags were distributed to drivers who came to either of the two main locations: the Rensselaer Train Station and the Albany International Airport. Additional bags were given out to drivers who picked up or dropped off guests at the four participating hotels: the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center, the Albany Marriott Hotel, Hilton Albany, and Holiday Inn Albany on Wolf Road. Gift bags included air fresheners, snacks, informational brochures, Albany pins, and more!

“Our region is growing with significant new development and greater need for valuable and reliable transportation. It’s more important now than ever for our taxi drivers to realize the highly impactful role they play in Albany’s hospitality culture,” stated Michele Vennard, President/CEO of the ACCVB.
This is the sixth time the Albany hospitality community has hosted this event.
