Supporting a Great Cause

Town of Guilderland Chief of Police Carol J. Lawlor accepts a $1,000 check from officials at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Guilderland for the department’s annual National Night Out event. Set for Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 6-9 p.m. at Tawasentha Park, the nationwide event aims to encourage members of the community to meet their neighbors in an effort to reduce crime. The Guilderland Police Department, which has hosted Guilderland’s National Night Out since 2009, plans to use the funds will help pay for the evening’s musical entertainment, The Refrigerators. More than 4,000 are expected to attend the event, which will feature displays by emergency medical service agencies, local fire departments and neighboring police agencies. Community groups, children’s activities, and music and vendors will also be on hand.
