SUNY Cobleskill Welcomes New Vice President for Development John J. Zacharek

John Zacharek has joined SUNY Cobleskill as its new Vice President for Development. He will implement and oversee donor cultivation, college advancement, and alumni affairs. In addition to serving on the President’s cabinet, he will be working with the College’s Foundation Board and Alumni Association.

“I am truly honored to join President Terenzio and her talented senior team at SUNY Cobleskill,” says Zacharek. “The College has a rich, impressive history and is poised for tremendous growth and success over the coming years.”

Zacharek comes to SUNY Cobleskill from Binghamton University, where he served as Executive Director of Development, responsible for the University’s central development programs for major gifts, regional development, and corporate and foundation relations. He brings extensive higher education development experience, having previously held positions at SUNY Onondaga Community College, Syracuse University, and Upstate Medical University.

“We are excited and eager to have John on campus. It is clear our community is moving forward rapidly,” says SUNY Cobleskill President Marion A. Terenzio. “We welcome John and look forward to working with him towards the future success of this wonderful institution.”

In more than 20 years of higher education development experience within the SUNY system and beyond, Zacharek has managed multimillion dollar capital campaigns, developed strategic planning initiatives, and organized numerous high-visibility fundraising events. He is graduate of the Binghamton University School of Management.
