April 26, 2017Summer Youth Employment Program Worksite Application-Rens County
The Rensselaer County One Stop Career Center provides Rensselaer County with high-quality youth programming, including the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This program provides Rensselaer County youth between the ages of 14 and 20 with paid summer employment for five weeks in July and August. Participants work in a variety of entry-level jobs, including government agencies, hospitals, summer camps, non-profits, small businesses, childcare, IT firms, and retail organizations. SYEP youth are allowed to work up to 25 hours a week, and are paid $9.70 per hour.
For those organizations that have participated in the past, thank you for serving as a worksite for our program in past summers. We hope you apply to be part of the Summer Youth Employment Program for 2017!
If you have not participated in the past, your business or organization can still become a SYEP Worksite for 2017. Organizations are provided with interns and entry-level employees through the program. You must agree to provide productive and meaningful work assignments, provide training and supervision, and provide adequate feedback and mentoring.
Attached, please find information and application regarding the Summer Youth Employment Program for the potential of your organization serving as a worksite. This is an excellent opportunity to assist with your business operations during the summer months as well as give an opportunity to mentor youth who will become your future workforce.
The program will begin on July 10th and end 5 weeks later on August 11th. All wages, insurance and fringes will be covered by our Department, as the youth will be employees of Rensselaer County.
If you have any questions or would like further information, please feel free to contact our Summer Youth Coordinator, Bill Morrison at (518) 270-2871 or william@capreg.org .
