July 7, 2020Summer Fun at West Mountain

Looking for fun adventures during the Covid-19 pandemic can seem quite daunting, but as of July 4th taking the kids on a safe day trip just got easier.
My daughter’s 12th birthday was coming up and I was unsure on what to do to make it memorable; everything was shut down and we were wary of where to go that would be safe for the kids. I had heard that West Mountain had outdoor summer adventures and I’m glad that I contacted them to learn more.
We made the short trip to West Mountain in nearby Queensbury, NY and we weren’t disappointed. We were welcomed to the property and whisked away to the chairlift where we made our way up the mountain; the view was amazing and we even saw a flock of turkeys on the trail!
When we got to the top, we had a short hike to the Aerial Treetop Adventure Park and the kids were delighted to find some salamanders on the way. We were fitted with our safety gear and in no time, we were starting our ground instruction eager to get on to the course.
We started off on the beginner’s course and proved that we were ready to tackle another, more challenging one. At one point, one of my daughters got stuck but instead of being rescued, pushed herself and was able to complete the course without assistance. We made it through the courses and were all proud of how well we did maneuver the obstacles.
The courses were fun and the staff was wonderful; Margaret, Maddie, and Adam made sure that we felt safe and were very encouraging throughout our time at West Mountain.
We had a wonderful family experience and we are eager to go back and try yet another even more challenging course after proving to ourselves that we can do it.
West Mountain is open for Summer Activities Daily from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and include the Aerial Treetop Adventure Park, scenic chairlift rides, hiking, mountain biking, and new this year, picnic packages.
