St. Peter’s Health Partners Celebrate Expansion of Modern Medical Suite in Colonie

St. Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new, expanded St. Peter’s Family Medicine location. This facility represents a significant investment in local healthcare, designed to provide convenient, high-quality primary care and women’s health services to a growing community.

Steven Hanks, president and CEO of St. Peter’s Health Partners, highlighted that a community’s healthcare system is “critical infrastructure” and emphasized the importance of a strong, stable, and accessible system. He noted that while the United States faces a “cost and sustainability problem,” St. Peter’s Health Partners has a 20-year history of creating a continuum of care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. According to Dr. Hanks, the organization is strategically downsizing its “expensive inpatient footprint” to focus on outpatient spaces like this new suite to increase access and improve quality while delivering care at a lower cost.

New York State Senator Jacob Ashby marked the event by presenting an official citation honoring the center. During his remarks, Senator Ashby thanked the organization for its “impactful and meaningful” work, describing it as “essential for the Capital District”. He also shared a personal connection to the medical team, noting that Dr. Philip Clements of Samaritan OB/GYN located in the same suite, delivered his son.

The project was described by Kellie Valenti, Vice President of St Peter’s Health Partners Medical Associates, as a year-long initiative to bring new services to one of the “biggest need markets” for primary care. The new suite features:

  • A 40-Exam Room Footprint: This allows for a phenomenal number of patients to be treated under one roof.
  • Primary Care Expansion: The site is currently home to five providers, with a sixth expected soon, to meet the high demand in the geography.
  • Women’s Health: A program with over 30 years of history in the market, now capable of accommodating up to 10 providers.

Valenti identified the “core providers” essential to the organization’s reputation for “tremendous quality”. These include:

  • Dr. Olufemi Akinyede: A returning provider who previously worked with the organization over a decade ago and returned to the region after practicing in Chicago and the Midwest.
  • Candice Stahl, Nurse Practitioner: A key provider in the new primary care and women’s health market.
  • Dr. Vincent Corcoran and Dr. Philip Clements: Long-standing clinicians.
  • Per the clinical roster, these providers are supported by Emily Walker (Medical Assistant) and Brian Connolly (Registered Nurse). Operational Partnerships and Community Impact Valenti extended gratitude to Aimee Pachucki for her leadership and JoAnn Vroman for her advocacy during the project. She also thanked Pat Haines from real estate and Lou Forezzi of Excelsior Construction, describing them as phenomenal partners who were critical in reaching the ribbon-cutting milestone.

Sean Daley of the Capital Region Chamber remarked that the practice is vital for families as the area continues to grow. Colonie Councilman and Deputy Supervisor Rick Field praised the central location, noting that “everything revolves around this spot” and highlighting its accessibility.

Future Growth: Orthopedic Center of Excellence Dr. Hanks and Kellie Valenti both noted that the building will continue to be revitalized. St. Peter’s is preparing to open a Center of Excellence for Orthopedics in a space even larger than the current suite. This future expansion will include:

  • 50 additional exam rooms.
  • An ambulatory surgery center, imaging capabilities, physical therapy and lab.
  • On-site medical equipment (DME) and a full imaging compliment.

Valenti emphasized that this “connectedness” of services is critical to making healthcare easy for patients to navigate within the community.
