St. Catherine’s Center for Children Re-Accredited by Council of Accreditation

The Council on Accreditation (COA) for Children and Family Services has announced that St. Catherine’s Center for Children has been formally re-accredited.

“I am delighted to inform you that St. Catherine’s Center for Children has been re-accredited,” said Richard Klarberg, President and CEO of the Council on Accreditation. “Re-accreditation is a tremendous achievement that demonstrates that St. Catherine’s is recognized as a provider that continues to successfully implement high performance standards and, as such, is delivering the highest quality services to all of its stakeholders.”

COA is an international and independent human service accrediting organization. Founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Service America (now the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities), COA partners with human service agencies around the world to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards.

“Re-accreditation is a tremendous achievement, and demonstrates to our board members, funders, regulatory bodies, and the community that St. Catherine’s is second to no one in our determination to provide the best possible services to children and families,” said Executive Director Bill Gettman. “We’re proud of this accomplishment, and it will inspire us to continue our efforts to provide children and families with all the tools they need to succeed.”

Re-accreditation by COA is the culmination of a year-long review process that involved the entire agency. The process began with a self-study by St. Catherine’s that included a careful review of services and administrative policies and procedures. The self-review was forwarded to COA and used as a basis for a site visit by a COA review team during the fall. COA’s review team visited programs, interviewed staff and board members, and reviewed records. Their on-site report served as the basis for St. Catherine’s re-accreditation.

St. Catherine’s was first accredited by COA in 1992, and has been accredited ever since. Re-accreditation occurs about every four years.
