February 28, 2019Sponsor-A-Scholar to Honor Hugh Johnson Advisors at June Scholar Celebration Event
Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar announced plans to honor Hugh Johnson Advisors at its upcoming Scholar Celebration on Wednesday, June 5th at 6 p.m.
“Hugh Johnson Advisors has been a committed partner to Sponsor-A-Scholar since 2013. They have helped us to invest our resources wisely so we can provide our students with the support they need to get to and through college. Their commitment to our young people’s future is an inspiration,” says Laura Marx, executive director.
Dan Nolan, president and CEO of Hugh Johnson Advisors noted: “For over 20 years Sponsor-A-Scholar has been making a difference in the lives of our most precious resource, young college-bound Capital Region students. The thought that Sponsor-A-Scholar makes it possible for these students to complete college when statistics indicate otherwise is truly inspiring. How can you not support that?”
Sponsor-A-Scholar was initially founded in 1997 to address poor high school graduation rates in area urban schools. Over time, Sponsor-A-Scholar focused its efforts on providing comprehensive college readiness and college completion resources for selected local students. Since 2000, more than 250 students have earned college diplomas. Sponsor-A-Scholar supports more than 100 students who are currently pursuing college degrees, as well as 94 high school Scholars.
Hugh Johnson Advisors will receive the Founders’ Award at the Scholar Celebration on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy at 235 Hoosick Street. The event will also honor the Scholars in the Class of 2019. Tickets are available online www.crsas.org or by calling 518-935-1045.
