Sponsor-A-Scholar Celebrates Class of 2018, Honors New York Business Development Corporation and New York State Society of CPAs

Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar announced plans to honor the New York Business Development Corporation and New York State Society of CPAs at its upcoming Scholar Celebration on Wednesday, June 6th at 6pm.

Robin Christenson, executive director, highlighted both organizations’ contributions to Sponsor-A-Scholar: “Both organizations have been instrumental in our Scholars’ success. Together, they have co-hosted a golf tournament for local financial professionals that has raised more than $10,000 for our Scholars. Their members have also personally supported our students as mentors and sponsors. Their joint commitment to our young people’s future is an inspiration.”

Sponsor-A-Scholar was initially founded in 1997 to address poor high school graduation rates in area urban schools. Over time, Sponsor-A-Scholar focused its efforts on providing comprehensive college readiness and college completion resources for selected local students. Since 2000, more than 230 students have earned college diplomas. Sponsor-A-Scholar supports more than 100 students who are currently pursuing college degrees, as well as 94 high school Scholars.

NYBDC and NYSSCPAs will receive the Founders’ Award at the Scholar Celebration on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Troy at 235 Hoosick Street. The event will also honor the Scholars in the Class of 2018. Tickets are available online www.crsas.org or by calling 518-935-1045.
