Spectrum Donates $2,500 to Junior League of Albany

Junior League of Albany which provides donations of food to participating families and improves the wellness of women and children in the Capital Region received $2,500 from Spectrum to help expand its partnership with A Child’s Place at Unity House, offering multicultural experiences that enhance learning for all children while celebrating diversity among children and families. The contribution by Spectrum funded the purchase of local grocery gift cards for over 60 families in Albany. This donation comes at a critical time for these families struggling financially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on vulnerable families and children in our area, exacerbating poverty challenges including access to healthy food and nutrition,” said Assemblymember John T. McDonald III. “This donation from Spectrum in partnership with the Junior League of Albany will help put food on the table for families in need.”

“The Junior League of Albany is grateful for the support of Spectrum which allowed us to expand our partnership with A Child’s Place at Unity House and fulfill our mission of training women to make a difference in our community,” said Meaghan Murphy, President, Junior League of Albany. “This generous donation allowed us to extend our project to the families of the children served by Unity House at a particularly difficult time.”

“We are very grateful to the Junior League of Albany and to Spectrum for this generous donation of food gift cards. No child should have to go hungry, and no parent should have to worry about how to provide adequate food for their family, and this donation will help us address food insecurity among the families we serve.  This isn’t the first time A Child’s Place has been the recipient of The Junior League of Albany’s philanthropic efforts. We are very fortunate for their support of our families and value the League as a trusted community partner,” said Unity House CEO Chris Burke.

“Spectrum is proud to lend support to organizations, like Junior League of Albany, and the important work they do in communities,” said Camille Joseph, Group Vice President, State Government Affairs for Charter Communications. “Together, we’re building stronger communities where our customers and employees live and work across America.”
