Special Incentive for New Albany Devils Season Ticket Holders

Last Wednesday morning, the SMG managed Times Union Center, Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan invited Albany business leaders to attend the Albany Slap-Shot Breakfast in an effort grow support of the Albany Devils and preserve American Hockey League (AHL) at the Times Union Center.

At this breakfast, George Hearst III, publisher and CEO of the Albany Times Union, announced a partnership with the Devils with an incentive package which comibines season tickets with print and online advertising with the Times Union newspaper. For a limited time (July 22, 2015 – August 21, 2015), the Times Union newspaper is offering the following:

  • Option 1: If a company currently advertises with the Times Union newspaper and purchases new Devils season tickets then the Times Union newspaper will match the company’s season ticket investment dollar for dollar in print or online advertising.
  • Option 2: If a company does not currently advertise with the Times Union newspaper, but commits to new advertising and purchases new Devils season tickets then the Times Union Newspaper will match the company’s season ticket investment dollar for dollar in print or online advertising.
  • Option 3: If a company does not currently advertise with the Times Union newspaper and purchases new Devils season ticket then the Times Union newspaper will give the company $0.50 for every dollar of its season ticket investment for print and online advertising.

With the recent westward expansion of the AHL, many Northeast cities have lost or are on the verge of losing their teams. County Executive McCoy and Mayor Sheehan are working to get local business leaders to support the Devils, and in return, enhancing the quality of life for the people of the Capital Region, as well as the $17 million economic impact that the team has on the local community.

The Devils’ contributions extend far beyond the confines of the Times Union Center and downtown Albany, and it is these reasons it is vital to continue to grow the area’s support for professional hockey and sustain the long-standing tradition of the AHL in the Capital Region.
