Sounds in Winter Concert Series at Brookside Museum

As part of the Sounds in Winter concert series, the Lark Strings will be performing in the Long Room of Brookside Museum on Saturday, December 30 at 3pm. The Lark Strings, composed of three local, professional musicians, Jessica Belflower and Heather Chan (violins) and Brian Axford (piano and guitar), will present an energetic program mixing classical music heavy-hitters with American fiddle icons.

The program will include:

  • Concerto in D minor for Two Violins and Piano, JS Bach
  • When Bidden to the Wake or Fair, Public Domain (arranged by Mark O’Connor; piano part written by Brian Axford)
  • A set of American fiddle tunes, to include:

o   Jole Blon, Traditional (arranged by Mark O’Connor and Doug Kershaw; piano part written by Brian Axford)

o   Faded Love, Bob Wills (arranged by Mark O’Connor; guitar part written by Brian Axford)

o   Appalachia Waltz, Mark O’Connor (arranged by Mark O’Connor and Edgar Meyer; guitar part written by Brian Axford)

o   Lover’s Waltz, Jay Ungar

  • Five Pieces for 2 Violins and Piano, Dmitri Shostakovich
