Shaker Pointe Promotes Kerry Engle to Fitness Director

Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, a senior living community in Latham, has promoted Kerry Engle to its fitness director. Engle is responsible for developing a fitness program that includes classes and personal training that can fit the needs of all Shaker Pointe’s residents.

Engle began freelancing at Shaker Pointe in 2011 by teaching one class per week. Now, as fitness director, Engle is responsible for producing classes for all levels of wellness, completing orientations to the fitness facility, offering personal training, implementing fitness and wellness seminars to educate and motivate residents, overseeing and hiring independent contractors that instruct classes, and purchasing equipment.

Shaker Pointe now offers 19 health and wellness classes per week, including zumba gold, tai chi, yoga, balance and more. The senior living residence provides an active and engaging community that supports the wellness and growth of its residents.

Engle has been brought on board to support this mission. She says, “Working in the fitness industry for 15 years, I have had the unique chance to experience many different approaches to exercise. Through my profession, I can share my knowledge and love for exercise with all people who want to not only change their bodies, but their way of life.”

Prior to joining Shaker Pointe, Engle formed her own business called Kfit Personal Training and taught group exercise classes in many regional senior communities. She also spent many years at the Albany Jewish Community Center (JCC) as a personal trainer and a group fitness instructor, eventually being promoted to assistant fitness director. Engle has many certifications related to health and fitness, including a personal training certification and group fitness instructor certification from the American Council of Exercise.
