Separate Symposiums on MS, Seizure Disorders & Epilepsy Set for Same Day, Same Location

The Center for Disability Services will present a pair of separate health care symposiums on the same day at the same location, the Albany Marriott Hotel, 189 Wolf Road. Patients, family members and health professionals are invited to attend the

13th Annual Multiple Sclerosis Symposium or the Symposium on Seizure Disorders and Epilepsy, on Wednesday, October 21.

The MS Symposium, offered in cooperation with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, will feature V. Wee Yong, PhD, Professor at Hotchkiss Brain Institute, speaking on Immunology & Research. Living with Multiple Sclerosis will be addressed by Rosemary Tucci, a special education teacher, program administrator and supervisor, trainer and business owners and Justin Andrews, a tech engineer, farmer and father. Rosella Cavaliere, MD, who is Director of the MS Care Center at the Center for Disability Services, will welcome the crowd. The MS Care Center is an affiliated MS Center for Comprehensive Care and partner with the National MS Society. There will be display booths, a luncheon, and sessions on subjects related to MS treatment and care in the afternoon. The MS Symposium is sponsored by Biogen Idec.

A Symposium on Seizure Disorders and Epilepsy, presented in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York, will feature Harriet Kang, M.D., and Gaye McCafferty, MS, ANP-BC, MSCS, from Center Health Care, on Navigating the Emotional Seas of Epilepsy, and Michael Gruenthal, M.D., Chief of Neurology at Albany Medical Center, on Research Updates in Epilepsy. The Center’s Chief Program Officer, Donna Lamkin, will make welcoming remarks. There will be information available at display booths, a luncheon, an afternoon panel discussion on Living with Epilepsy and a Q & A: Ask the Doctors session with Harriet Kang, M.D., and Marjorie Bunch, M.D., Assistant Professor at Albany Medical College.

The fee for either symposium, which includes lunch, is $10 for patients and care partners; $50 for medical and health care professionals. Registration deadline is October 16.
