June 10, 2020SEFCU Introduces New Chief Legal Officer Kendra Rubin, Esq.
SEFCU is pleased to announce that Kendra Rubin, Esq. has joined its executive team as Chief Legal Officer.
Rubin is a highly qualified attorney who brings to SEFCU nearly a decade of legal experience in the credit union industry, government, and the private sector.
Rubin will serve as SEFCU’s general counsel, working closely with both internal and external business partners, providing legal advice and strategy to senior management, and managing external legal counsel relationships. She will also oversee contract administration, regulatory compliance and advocacy.
“I was drawn to SEFCU because of its sense of service, both to its members and the community. My own personal sense of service drove my career in government, and I look forward to continuing that commitment to others while at SEFCU,” said Rubin.
Rubin comes to SEFCU from the New York Credit Union Association where she served as Vice President of Government Affairs. In that role, Rubin was responsible for leading the NYCUA’s state and federal lobbying and advocacy efforts and helped to bring engagement with the Association to a 20-year high.
Prior to working with the NYCUA, Rubin held various positions with the State, including serving as Deputy Director for the Bureau of Program Counsel and Health Insurance with the New York State Department of Health and various positions within the New York State Executive Chamber where she worked directly with Governor Andrew Cuomo and senior staff, offering advice on legal issues related to board governance, the judiciary, information technology, local government, FOIL, record retention, and more.

Rubin is a graduate of the University at Albany and Albany Law School. In 2017, she was named Albany Law School’s Rising Star in Government and in 2019, she was named one of City and State’s Albany Top 40 under 40.
