Second Nature Counseling Addresses Mental Health Head On

Second Nature Counseling has been offering mental health counseling services to the Capital Region community since 2019. After a year and a half of growth, by adding clinicians and office space, the team at Second Nature Counseling is ready to announce themselves to the neighborhood.

Second Nature Counseling opened its offices in July 2019 in the Historic Campbell House in Downtown Schenectady. Second Nature Counseling has grown from one to eight counselors over the last year and has expanded its office space to accommodate more clients and offer more services. The organization has a team of professionally trained counselors specializing in trauma, child play therapy, anxiety and depression, substance use, and many other areas.

As part of its mission to make counseling services available to everybody, Second Nature Counseling has recently been designated a National Health Service Corps affiliated group practice, offering affordable mental healthcare. Second Nature Counseling accepts all insurance plans and offers sliding fees and discounts to those who qualify. “Our team is dedicated to making sure anybody who reaches out can access and afford counseling services at our practice. We recognize there are already many barriers to accessing mental healthcare; we don’t want money to be one of them,” says Steven DiMarzo, Founder, President & CEO at Second Nature Counseling.

The practice is currently offering in-person and virtual counseling services to accommodate the needs of clients while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. “Mental health is often overlooked, and it is part of our mission to make sure nobody goes without the help and support they need.” says DiMarzo.
