SCPL Author Visit: Elizabeth Rosner

The Schenectady Public Library will host a return visit from Niskayuna-native author and poet Elizabeth Rosner on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the McChesney Room of the Central Library, 99 Clinton Street.

As firsthand survivors of many of the twentieth century’s most monumental events—the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor, the Vietnam War— begin to pass away, Elizabeth Rosner’s Survivor Café: The Legacy of Trauma and the Labyrinth of Memory addresses urgent questions: How do we carry those stories forward? How do we collectively ensure that the horrors of the past are not forgotten?

Elizabeth Rosner is the author of three novels and a poetry collection. One of her previous works, Electric City – a piece of fiction based on the Steinmetz-era at General Electric in mid-20th century Schenectady, was named among the best books of 2014 by NPR. Her essays and reviews have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Elle, the San Francisco Chronicle, and others.

The Open Door Bookstore is accepting pre-orders for Survivor Café. Copies can be ordered by calling the store at 346.2719. A limited quantity of books will be available for purchase at the event.
