February 18, 2022Scholarships Available to Schenectady County Residents
The Schenectady Foundation has opened its online application process for scholarships in three different programs. Residents of Schenectady County have until March 31 to apply for two programs and one program is eligible only to those who graduate from Schenectady High School this spring. The Foundation intends to award $38,000 in scholarships this year.
The scholarships include the $10,000 Anna Hudson Erbacher Scholarship for students in Schenectady County with a passion for teaching, the $2,500 Dave Goyette Memorial Vocational Scholarship for Schenectady County students interested in the vocational fields and the $5,000 Schenectady STEM Scholarship for Schenectady High School students who plan to study math, science or engineering.
Students can begin applying for the scholarships at schenectadyfoundation.org, where a link will help you find out more about eligibility, tips on how to get your online application started and the full list of requirements.
Since 1974, The Schenectady Foundation provided more than $700,000 in scholarship awards to Schenectady County residents.
“In all our years of providing assistance to families, we know that a scholarship makes all the difference in helping graduates achieve their dream of higher education,” said Robert Carreau, executive director of The Schenectady Foundation.
The annual Sallie Mae report “How America Pays For College” backs that up, reporting that scholarships are the second biggest source of funding to cover the costs of a college education, after parent income and savings.
