Schenectady Rotary Club – Cornhole for a Cause at Rivers Casino Schenectady on July 12

The Schenectady Rotary Club is proud to announce its 5th Annual Cornhole for a Cause Tournament, taking place on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Rivers Casino Schenectady, the event’s presenting sponsor.

Held in partnership with Adirondack Cornhole, the day-long tournament welcomes players of all skill levels while raising funds to support Schenectady Rotary’s educational and community initiatives, particularly its longstanding partnership with William C. Keane Elementary School.

Registration and check-in begin at 9 a.m., with tournament play starting at 10 a.m.

“Cornhole for a Cause has become one of our signature fundraising events, bringing together community members, local businesses, and players from across the region to make a meaningful impact,” said Schenectady Rotary Club President, Brianne Ptak-Mimura. “Every dollar raised helps us continue supporting students and families in Schenectady while advancing Rotary’s mission of service above self.”

The tournament will feature Singles and Doubles competition in four divisions: Open (Advanced), Competitive, Intermediate (Social), and Novice.

Tournament play includes double-elimination brackets, rounders for doubles before bracket play, and a guaranteed three to four games for all participants. More than $2,000 in total prize money is expected, with payouts awarded to the top three finishers in each division.

In addition to tournament action, attendees can enjoy benefit drawings, auctions, games, and other activities throughout the day. Spectators are encouraged to attend and cheer on participants while supporting a worthy cause.

Tournament Details:

• $25 per player (Singles)
• $30 per player (Doubles)
• $5 door fee for players and spectators
• Children accompanied by an adult admitted free
• All participants must create a free account through the ACL Player App

Funds raised through Cornhole for a Cause help support literacy, attendance, and family engagement initiatives at William C. Keane Elementary School. The need for community support is especially important this year as the school prepares for a temporary relocation during a major building renovation project.

Over the past several years, Schenectady Rotary’s partnership with Keane Elementary has produced measurable results, including providing Community Resource Room supplies, winter coats, and corrective lenses for students in need; hosting Scholastic Book Fairs to ensure every student receives books; supporting attendance incentive programs; funding career days, tutoring programs, school beautification projects, and community events; and contributing to improvements in math and literacy performance.

Proceeds from this year’s event will help Schenectady Rotary continue supporting literacy and attendance initiatives, Community Schools programming, and critical student and family needs.
