November 6, 2020Schenectady Jewish Community Center Continues to Provide In-Person and Virtual Programming
The Schenectady Jewish Community Center (JCC) is continuing to adapt in an environment where a community center is unable to serve the community and its members in its normal capacity. Recently, the Schenectady JCC reopened its doors to new and returning members to offer in-person programming with new guidelines in place to allow fitness classes, access to the fitness center and other facilities, after-school programming and more.
The center offers numerous fitness classes, spaced out throughout the building to ensure social distancing and also provides personal training in its fitness center with certified personal trainers. The indoor pool is also open to members. Anyone looking to utilize the fitness center, or the pool must register in advance and take proper safety measures when using the facility.
Early Childhood Education is offered in-person at the Schenectady JCC as well as its After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) for those in first through fifth grade. The Early Childhood Program at the Schenectady JCC provides quality childcare for a variety of ages and developmental levels while the ASEP is filled with activities and programs to keep kids active and engaged.
Like many organizations, the Schenectady JCC also offers a variety of virtual programs and has used virtual programming to connect with other JCCs across the country. The virtual book festival, Book Festival In Your Living Room, features discussions on a variety of books and authors with virtual discussions on each book. Similarly, the Schenectady JCC is continuing its film festival completely online as well, showcasing films and discussions with the directors themselves.
