Schenectady ARC Hires New Director for Residential Services

Mary Ellen Pratt has been named as Residential Director at Schenectady ARC. As part of her leadership role, Pratt has primary responsibility for the oversight of several group homes located in Schenectady County.

Prior to joining Schenectady ARC Pratt served more than 25 years in the human service field. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Education-Fine Arts from SUNY Plattsburgh and got her professional start teaching K through 12. She also spent time working with the Head Start program where she oversaw delivery of comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement programs for children and their families.

For much of her career, Pratt has had the opportunity to work for several ARC’s stretching from Maine to New York. During that time, she served individuals in a variety of roles, creating and providing numerous services focused on prevention and the promotion of a positive approach to improving the quality of individual lives.

Pratt is pleased to join the Schenectady ARC team where their philosophy stresses “see ability not disability” and is looking forward to promoting a shared goal to ensure individuals have healthy and rewarding lives.
