Saratoga National Historical Park Hosts Fall Lecture Series

The chill in the air can only mean one thing—it’s time for lectures!

Saratoga National Historical Park and the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield will host their annual Fall Lecture Series to commemorate the 250th anniversaries of the Revolutionary War and the founding of the United States. All lectures begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing S[email protected].

Schedule

  • October 1: Agrippa Hull: A Revolutionary Life
    Historian Talya Leodari explores the life of Agrippa Hull, a free African American who served six years in the Continental Army and became a respected community leader in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
  • October 8: The Woes of Richard Montgomery Part Two: The Sad Retreat from Canada in 1776
    Will Tatum examines the aftermath of the failed American invasion of Canada and its impact on the Revolutionary War.
  • October 22: Morgan Lewis: The Making of a Patriot
    TR Hamilton highlights the life of Morgan Lewis, Revolutionary War officer, New York governor, and influential early American leader.
  • October 29: Illuminating Lives: The Stories of Several Women During the American War for Independence
    Park Curator Christine Valosin shares the stories of six women connected to the Schuyler family, reconstructing their experiences through historical records.
  • November 5: When the Declaration of Independence Was News
    Dr. Emily Sneff discusses how the Declaration was communicated and perceived in 1776, drawing from her recent research and publication.
  • November 12: Did the Battle of Redbank Bring France into the War of Independence?
    Robert A. Selig explores how French leaders viewed American military events and what influenced France’s decision to join the war.
  • November 19: They Were Good Soldiers: African Americans Serving in the Continental Army
    John U. Rees examines the experiences and contributions of African American men and women who served with the Continental Army.
