Sage to Dedicate State-of-the-Art M&T Bank Stock Trading Simulation Room

The Sage Colleges will unveil and dedicate a new state-of-the-art stock trading simulation room on Wednesday, September 16 at 3 p.m. on the Sage College of Albany campus. The simulator was made possible by the generous support of M&T Bank Corporation and will replicate a real-world trading experience. The room will also serve as a classroom and laboratory.

M&T Bank provided $50,000 toward the simulator and another $50,000 for Sage’s Corporate Connections Scholarship program. The forty-seat classroom features stock trade investment software and stock tickers and has been wired with fast internet cable; connections; and wireless beacons. Two large-screen TVs with stock information and feeding and dual-screen monitors will allow students to perform real-time analysis.

“We are very grateful to M&T Bank for their generous gift and helping to make this vision a reality,” said Dr. Susan Scrimshaw, President of The Sage Colleges. “This will be the premier room for Sage’s School of Management. It will provide a tremendous learning advantage for our students by enabling them to experience the day-to-day challenges of the financial marketplace and better prepare them for careers in the financial sector.”

“The region’s economy continues to grow. The Sage Colleges School of Management prepares students for success through the diverse curriculum and experiences they offer. Scholarships provide students with an extraordinary opportunity. Sage is investing in the future of local business here in the Capital District,” said Michael T. Keegan, M&T Bank Regional President.

“The M&T Bank Stock Trading Simulation Room will provide a unique hands-on learning experience for our School of Management students as well as the local community,” remarked Dr. Kimberly Fredericks, Dean of the School of Management. “We are thankful to M&T Bank for making this advanced learning opportunity possible. This will enable our students to experience key elements of the financial services industry and learn and acquire practical skills in a real-world setting.”

The trading room will not only benefit Sage business students since specialized courses, continuing education, executive training and real-time workshops on simulated trading and other financial topics will also be available to members of the local community.
