Sage Names New Deans of Health Sciences and Management

The Sage Colleges is proud to announce the appointments of the deans of the School of Health Sciences and the School of Management.

Theresa Hand_1Theresa Hand,OTD, OTR/L, CHT, has been named Dean of the School of Health Sciences. Hand joined the faculty at The Sage Colleges in September 1993 as a clinical instructor in the Occupational Therapy program, was promoted to assistant professor in 1998 and then associate professor in 2011. She became chair of the Occupational Therapy program in 2008 and program director in 2010. Hand completed her doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University, M.S. in Health Services Administration from Sage Graduate School and her B.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Hampshire. She has worked in supervisory and managerial roles in many local health care organizations. Her professional focus has been working with patients with sports injuries as a Certified Hand Therapist.

While at Sage, Hand has served on and chaired the Academic Information Technologies Committee. She was a member of the Evidence Based Practice Sub-Committee for the American Society of Hand Therapists and Item Writer for the Certified Hand Therapy Exam. She recently presented and published with Cheryl MacNeil, Ph.D., on enhancing occupational therapy education through engagement in curriculum mapping and pedagogical reflection. While chair of OT, she promoted collaborative decision-making that resulted in strong student and program outcomes.

Kimberly Fredericks_1Kim Fredericks, Ph.D., MPA, RD, has been appointed Dean of the School of Management. Fredericks has served as an associate dean, associate professor, and graduate chair in the School of Management for the past four years. She has been instrumental in many initiatives within the School of Management, most recently expanding Sage’s MBA program to a satellite location in Saratoga County and stepping up Sage’s participation in Start-Up Grind. Fredericks received her Ph.D., and M.A. in Public Administration from the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College and her B.S. in Nutrition & Management Science from Russell Sage College.

Her scholarly work focuses on social network analysis and evaluation within the public and nonprofit healthcare sectors. She has been a consultant for many entities including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Agency for Healthcare Quality and Research, OMG Center for Collaborative Learning, The Army Corps of Engineers, the Center for Creative Leadership, the American Evaluation Association, and the Missouri Institute of Mental Health. Her work has appeared in journals such as New Directions for Evaluation, the American Journal of Evaluation, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, and the International Review of Public Administration.
