Sage Celebrates its Founding by Promoting Voter Registration and Civic Engagement

The Sage Colleges and the League of Women Voters of Rensselaer County will hold a voter registration drive on Wed., September 26, 2018, from noon to 2 p.m. in Bush Memorial Center, Russell Sage College, 65 1st Street, Troy, N.Y.

The voter registration drive will coincide with Sage’s annual celebration of its founding. Former Rensselaer County executive Kathleen Jimino will deliver the Founder’s Day Convocation keynote address and speak about the importance of civic engagement on Sept. 26 at 12:30 p.m. in Bush Memorial Center.

Founder’s Day activities were planned to tie-in with Sage’s semester-long effort to encourage students to register to vote and to educate themselves about their voting choices. The Founder’s Day voter registration drive will be the seventh that Sage has hosted at Russell Sage College or Sage College of Albany this fall.

“When I look out at our students, I want their perspectives and voices to count, and I want them to care enough about the country they are inheriting to know what they need to know to be informed voters and citizens,” said Christopher Ames, president of The Sage Colleges. “I look forward to more non-partisan programming that engages all members of our community in the issues informing the 2018 and future elections.”
