Rose McKenna is Of Counsel with E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy, LLP. She is a graduate of Albany Law School of Union University (J.D., cum laude) and the State University of New York at Albany (B.A., cum laude). Rose was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in 1989, the New York State Bar and United States District Court, Northern District of New York, in 1990 and the United States Tax Court in 1992. Rose has earned an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating*, as established by confidential opinions from fellow members of the Bar and Judiciary in Martindale-Hubbell®.
Immediately prior to joining E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy, LLP, Rose was affiliated with a national law firm, providing comprehensive transactional and commercial legal services to business and charitable organizations. Rose has also served as general counsel for a group of affiliated charitable organizations in the educational, medical and housing fields, and has practiced with several area law firms.
Rose’s practice focuses on representing commercial entities and health care providers in transactional and operational matters. She has worked with national, state, regional and local organizations in all areas of their operations, including formation and organization, securing tax-exempt status for not-for-profit organizations, the development of policies and practices, continuing governance issues and organizational re-structures, statutory compliance matters, mergers, acquisitions, and other affiliations, personnel policies, training and employment matters, licensing, trademark and copyright, and contracting.
Rose currently serves as a Steering Committee member for Capital Roots. She is a past board member of the Institutional Review Board for Ellis Hospital, a past member of the Board of Directors of the Visiting Nurse Service Association of Schenectady County, and of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and a past member of the Women’s Business Council of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Rose has served as an adjunct professor for the University at Albany Business School (Legal Challenges in Health Care) and at the College of St. Rose (International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists, Business Law and the Regulatory Environment). Rose has published many legal articles and is a frequent speaker on various topics relating to transactional, compliance, operational and other matters impacting business and charitable organizations.
