Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Celebrates Oktoberfest with Samuel Adams & Stein Hoisting Competition

Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady is celebrating Oktoberfest on the banks of the Mohawk River on Friday, October 6, with Samuel Adams Brewery. The event is open to the public – no cover charge – and will run from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

A highlight of the event will be the Stein Hoisting Competition—an event that takes place at Oktoberfests across the nation. Competitors must hoist a one-liter full glass stein with a straight arm for as long as possible. If they sip, spill, or bend their arm they are out! The winner will be treated to an overnight stay in Boston that includes a Samuel Adams Brewery tour in Boston, tickets for two to a Boston Bruins game, a Samuel Adams cooler and brewing kit. The competition is open to Rush Rewards members, who will be able to sign up at the event.

In addition to offerings by Samuel Adams, guests will be treated to traditional Oktoberfest food specials along with entertainment from the Bavarian Brothers, B95.5 and 100.9 The Cat. Oktoberfest will be celebrated on the Rivers Casino patio. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Rivers Event Center.

“The Rivers patio has been a huge hit throughout the summer with live music, food and drink and great times for our guests. Oktoberfest will be no different,” said Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady General Manager Mary Cheeks. “There’s no reason the arrival of cooler weather means that our patio won’t still be the place to be in the Capital Region.”
