April 21, 2020Regional Emergency Medical Organization (REMO) Complies with NYS on Pause
The Regional Emergency Medical Organization(REMO), a small not-for-profit business contracted with the NYS Department of Health, has complied with the NYS on Pause by moving its operations to ‘work from home’. The change in location hasn’t stopped team members from continuing to meet the mission of assisting local emergency medical care providers in delivering safe, quality care to those experiencing complications of Covid 19 along with typical illnesses and injuries.
To date, REMO has
- purchased electrostatic sprayers along with disinfectant for ambulance decontamination. The devices have been placed at strategic locations throughout the six counties of the REMO catchment area (Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady) enabling ambulances to quickly but safely return to service.
- Obtained and distributed filters for endotracheal (breathing) tubes. The filters decrease the number of droplets entering the air during the placement of these assistive devices reducing possible transmission of corona virus and other infectious organisms to providers.
- Utilized our webpage (REMO-EMS.com) to organize and disseminate the rapidly changing information on Covid19. Locally, first responders and basic and advanced EMTs have accessed the page to obtain current knowledge of care for patients with Covid19.
- Provided the Emergency Medical leaders of our six counties an electronic forum to discuss and share measures to provide quality patient care while continuing to keep providers safe.
