RCS CBA Announces Leadership Transition

The RCS Community Business Association is entering a new chapter of leadership as longtime Chair Marlene McTigue retires from the position this month and Josh Kowalski assumes the role of Chair. Rebecca Flach will remain Vice Chair.

The transition marks an important milestone for the organization, which brings together businesses, community organizations and regional partners throughout the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk area and beyond.

McTigue has served on the CBA Board of Directors for nearly a decade and as chair since 2022. During that time, the organization expanded its role as a connector and advocate for the local business community, recruited members from beyond the RCS footprint, and grew its membership to more than 100 businesses and community members.

Although retiring as chair, McTigue will remain involved with the organization as Director Emeritus.

“I always have and continue to believe that a rising tide lifts all boats, that when our local businesses succeed, our communities are stronger, and when we work together, all of us have a better chance to thrive,” McTigue said. “I am incredibly proud of what the CBA has accomplished, and I know Josh will do a great job leading the organization into its next chapter. He understands this community, he understands business and, most importantly, he understands the value of bringing people together. I’m looking forward to continuing to support him, Rebecca, the board and the CBA in my new role.”

Kowalski, Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Carver Companies, has been involved with the RCS CBA for nearly eight years through its meetings, events and community initiatives. He has served as an elected board member for the past year and as chair of the Economic Development and Advocacy Committee.

His involvement has also included the annual Thanksgiving giveaways with the Ravena News-Herald, educational visits with Innovation Station and other CBA initiatives that bring local businesses, organizations and residents together.

“I am honored to step into this role and grateful to Marlene for the dedication and leadership she has brought to the RCS CBA,” Kowalski said. “She leaves the organization in a strong position, and I look forward to building on that foundation by ensuring the CBA remains a welcoming place where local businesses can connect, share ideas and work together. By supporting one another, we can continue building a community where our businesses prosper and our children can thrive and build their futures.”

Kowalski brings more than two decades of experience in heavy equipment, construction, logistics, business development and regional economic development. In his role with Carver Companies, he works across divisions and locations to connect customers with the facilities, equipment, transportation capabilities and specialized expertise needed to support major public and private investments.

He also represents Carver Companies on the Executive Board of the Center for Economic Growth, where he supports initiatives focused on regional investment, job creation and infrastructure development.

For the CBA, the leadership change represents both continuity and an opportunity to build on the organization’s existing momentum while broadening participation and strengthening its role in the community.

“The CBA has always been about the collective strength of the people and businesses who participate,” McTigue said. “Leadership changes, but that purpose doesn’t. I’m excited to see where Josh, Rebecca, the board and our members take it next.”

The RCS CBA works to support local businesses, encourage economic development and strengthen connections among employers, community stakeholders and regional partners throughout the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk area and beyond.
