October 11, 2017RARE Craft Steak & Cocktail House Named 2017 Wing Walk Winner
A total of 20 restaurants served up a mouthwatering selection of chicken wing recipes to a sold-out crowd of 1,500 guests during the 6th Annual Wing Walk today from 12:00-5:00 p.m. in Downtown Schenectady. Guests were encouraged to cast votes for their favorite wing flavor. After all ballots were counted following the event, the 2017 Wing Walk Winner by popular vote was RARE Craft Steak & Cocktail House for their Maple Bacon BBQ Wing. Second place went to 20 North Broadway Tavern for their Maple Chipotle Mango BBQ Wing. Third place went to Centre Street: A Public House & Garden for their Peruvian Dry Rub Wing w/Green Goddess Sauce.
In addition to the popular vote, a panel of special guest judges rated wings in several categories. Judges were Samantha Legere – Coordinator of Development, SCCC; Jasmine Nakkab – President, Union College Student Forum; and David Howard King – Editor/Associate Publisher, The Alt Weekly. Judges’ picks were:
• Judges’ Top Wing: Mad Jack Brew Pub @ The Van Dyck, Upstate Harvest Wing Infused w/Mad Jack Beer
• Most Creative Wing: Centre Street: A Public House & Garden, Peruvian Dry Rub Wing w/Green Goddess Sauce
• Best Sauce or Dry Rub: Slidin’ Dirty, Sesame Ginger Wing
• Best Texture: Pho Queen, Siamese Wing
• Best Appearance or Presentation: RARE Craft Steak & Cocktail House, Maple Bacon BBQ Wing
• Special Category – Kids’ Choice: Pinhead Susan’s, The Mad Jameson BBQ Wing
The 6th Annual Wing Walk was presented by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, Proctors and Schenectady County Special Events.
