Profiles Consulting Providing Wellness Programs through Education, Fitness, Health, Nutrition, and Mental Health Training

In March of 2020, as the mental health tsunami was cresting, it did not take much to imagine what our cultural landscape would soon look like. With the vital role human connection plays in providing support for addiction and mental health concerns, lockdown was the death knell.

By June of 2020, the philosophy and the business plan for Profiles Consulting crystallized.

The Perfect storm

Leading up to COVID, the pre-existing mental health crisis was worsening each year and was compounded by the shortage of mental health professionals. When COVID triggered critical mass, it was evident the entire business world would require supplemental services to support their workforce.

Effective supplemental services would need to move in concert toward a cultural revision that would buffer post-pandemic stressors.

The details of what constitute a supportive workplace culture would need to be made plain with realistic and easily attainable goals.

I framed the necessity and the constitution of such a culture by posing two rhetorical questions: What if your workplace culture functioned as an integral part of your employees’ support system? If so, what would that do for morale and your business imperative?

Which details will your senior management need to address before committing to serve your moral and business imperatives?

Numerous studies have confirmed over and again that healthy workplace cultures increase morale, efficiency, and profit margins.

That fact helps us distill the question further:

What details need to be worked out before enacting a plan to increase your profits?

Only one. Calculate the cost of inaction based on the most recent statistics, then set a number that reflects the value you place on both imperatives. Often the simplest and overlooked formulas yield the most return.

The logic of hard data constrains us to rethink and revise. The pandemic, in turn, forced us to reprioritize. We considered our human fragility and empathized with those who suffered loss. This empathic lens revealed the ease by which very human resources had become objectified.

A cultural revolution driven by common sense inverts the status quo and liberates the potential of the workforce.

Therein lies the beauty of a guaranteed win/win for your workplace milieu, the families of your employees, and our extended Capital District community.
